The ISLAND FESTIVAL has the purpose of emphasizing the specificities of the island of Vis as well as the relation of the island toward the environment, both natural and cultural. We wish to point out that an island is often synonymous with isolation and distance but simultaneously also the synonym for the preservation of authenticity and tradition and relationship with the cultural heritage.

The thousand-year-long influence offers the possibility of uninterrupted research due to which the ISLAND FESTIVAL (where island refers to both singular and plural) is the universal form that can present most varied issues of the folk/traditional culture as well as performing art and music, architecture and visual arts.
